Faith in action — loving our neighbours in Scarborough through practical, compassionate service.
Jesus did not merely preach the Kingdom of God — He demonstrated it. He fed the hungry, healed the sick, welcomed the outcast, and stood with the vulnerable. At Church of God Saviour King, we are called to do the same.
Our community outreach programs are the hands and feet of the Gospel at work in Scarborough. We do not merely believe in helping people — we are committed to it, week after week, in partnership with our neighbours and local organizations.
Scarborough is one of the most culturally diverse communities in Canada. It is a place of vibrant neighbourhoods, resilient families, and untold stories. It is also a place of real need — newcomers navigating a new country, families facing economic pressures, seniors living in isolation, and youth searching for direction. Church of God Saviour King stands in the gap, offering hope, dignity, and practical support to all who need it.
We believe no one in our neighbourhood should go to bed hungry. Our food assistance program provides grocery hampers, prepared meals, and practical support to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity in the Scarborough area. Volunteers from our congregation work together each week to pack and distribute food with love and without judgment.
If you or someone you know needs food support, please contact us. Assistance is provided confidentially and with dignity.
Canada is home to thousands of newcomers each year, and Scarborough is one of the most welcoming destinations for those beginning a new chapter. Church of God Saviour King runs a Newcomer Welcome Program that provides orientation to the community, English conversation practice, help navigating government services, and — most importantly — a warm, friendly community to belong to from day one.
We celebrate the diversity of backgrounds represented in our congregation and see every newcomer as a gift to our community.
Loneliness among seniors is one of the most pressing but invisible challenges in our community. Our pastoral care team and trained volunteers make regular visits to seniors in our congregation and neighbourhood — whether at home, in care facilities, or in hospital. We bring fellowship, prayer, practical assistance, and the reminder that they are valued and not forgotten.
Strong families are the foundation of strong communities. We offer pastoral counselling, parenting workshops, and marriage enrichment programs to support families at every stage. Our goal is not only to address crises but to equip families with the tools, spiritual grounding, and community connections they need to thrive.
All support is provided in a confidential, non-judgmental, and faith-affirming environment by trained and caring members of our team.
We invest in the young people of Scarborough through structured mentorship, after-school academic support, and life-skills workshops. Our mentors — drawn from our congregation — walk alongside youth to provide guidance, encouragement, and a positive vision for the future. We believe every young person has God-given potential, and we are committed to helping them discover and develop it.
Our outreach programs are powered by the generous time and hearts of volunteers from our congregation and the wider Scarborough community. Whether you can give two hours a week or two days a month, your contribution makes a real difference in someone's life.
